For almost 80 years, R.D. Sawyer Motor Company has been serving the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 1946, Roland Sawyer Sr. started selling new cars on Highway 64 in Manteo, first as a Dodge dealer and later as a Ford dealer. He eventually passed the Ford dealership down to his sons, RD and Byron. Today, RD's son, Dock, and his wife, Robin, along with RD's brother, 86-year-old Byron Sawyer, are keeping Mr. Roland's memory alive. As one of the oldest family-owned dealerships in North Carolina, the Sawyer Family no longer sells new cars, but their commitment to offering quality automobiles and excellent service has not changed. Located on Historic Roanoke Island in the Town of Manteo, R.D.
