  • Dock Sawyer
    General Manager

As the grandson of the original owner of this dealership, Roland Dock Sawyer Sr., I've been working here unofficially since I was just a teenager. Officially, I started working here in 1986 after I returned to the Outer Banks from a six-year vacation -- working as a music education teacher in Yanceyville, N.C. While my title is General Manager, I'm pretty much a jack-of-all-trades here. Don't be surprised to see me washing cars, mowing the grass, planting flowers, or helping customers. At the end of the day, my grandfather's name is still on the front of this building, so doing business in a way that would make him proud is what motivates me to put people first. Remember, Ford isn't just the brand, it stands for "Friend of R.D." And that's what you get when you shop here. Right on!

  • Byron Sawyer

My father, Roland D. Sawyer Sr., started this business more than 60 years ago. In 1985, we moved the dealership from across the street in the building that now houses Manteo Marine to our current location. "Pop," as he was known by his family, passed away in 1989. My brother, R.D., and I took over the business in the late 1970s. Then Dock joined us in 1986. RD passed away in 2016.

Our business has always believed in treating customers like family and we have made every effort to stay true to the values we learned from my father. Whether you are here for service or to buy a vehicle, we want you to leave as a happy customer.

  • Robin Sawyer
    Internet Manager

After 25 years of teaching high school journalism, I retired and joined my husband, Dock, in the family business in 2015.  While my primary responsibility is taking care of anything Internet-related, my role here is more of a gap-filler than anything else.  From sales to service, I'm always ready to help our customers and our employees in any way possible.  If you have a concern or a problem and you're not sure who to call, then you should probably call me.  If I can't answer your question or fix the situation, I promise I will find a solution.
